We do not verify professional credentials (except limited student email verification), do not provide legal advice, do not guarantee matches, responses, employment, or outcomes, and are not responsible for user conduct on or off the platform.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Amicus.

1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

By using Amicus, you agree to these Terms and related policies.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Amicus, a Minnesota limited liability company ("Amicus," "we," "us," or "our").

We verify student status only; professional credentials are not verified.

3.1 Student Verification

Amicus may verify student status using a .edu email address or similar methods. Student verification confirms only that an email domain is associated with an educational institution and does not verify enrollment, standing, academic performance, or identity.

3.2 Professional Verification

At this time, Amicus does not verify bar admission, licensure, employment, firm affiliation, or professional qualifications. Any professional identifiers are self-reported.

You may not misrepresent your status, credentials, affiliations, or experience.

4. User Conduct and Prohibited Uses

Use Amicus professionally and lawfully.

You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose: professional networking and communication.

4.1 Blocking and Reporting

Amicus provides in-app tools that allow users to block other users and report content or conduct that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

Reports are reviewed at Amicus's discretion. We may take actions including warnings, content removal, suspension, or termination. We are not required to disclose enforcement outcomes or investigative details.

This license ends when your account is deleted, except where retention is required by law or for dispute resolution.

8. Matching, Ranking, and No Guarantees

Matches are not guaranteed.

Amicus may use automated systems to suggest connections or rank profiles. We do not guarantee:

Amicus uses automated tools, including AI, to suggest connections.

Amicus uses automated systems, including artificial intelligence and machine-learning tools provided by third parties such as OpenAI, to analyze profile information and activity signals in order to suggest potential matches, connections, and recommendations on the Service.

Where feasible, data used for AI processing is de-identified or anonymized prior to analysis. Amicus does not use AI tools to make determinations about your legal qualifications, employability, licensure, or character.

9. Paid Features, Subscriptions, and Ads

Some features cost money; subscriptions renew unless canceled.

9.1 Freemium Model

Amicus offers free and paid subscription features. Paid features may include enhanced visibility or messaging capabilities.

9.2 Usage Limits

Free accounts are subject to daily usage limits, including limits on the number of profiles that may be viewed or swiped.

Premium subscribers receive enhanced or unlimited usage, as described at the time of purchase. Usage limits and features may change at any time.

9.3 Current Pricing (Subject to Change)

Prices may vary by platform, location, or promotional offer. Final pricing is displayed at checkout and controlled by the applicable app store or payment processor.

9.4 Billing and Renewals

Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled. Payments may be processed through:

10. Refunds

Purchases are generally non-refundable unless required by law.

All purchases are final except where applicable law requires otherwise. Refunds for App Store purchases must be requested through Apple or Google.

You can leave; we can remove you.

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or pose risk to the community.

Termination does not entitle you to a refund.

11.1 Data Retention and Account Deletion

Some data expires automatically; users can delete their account.

Amicus retains personal data only as long as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

Certain behavioral data used for AI-powered matching expires automatically after 90 days.

You may delete your account at any time through the app. Upon deletion:

We do not vet users.

Amicus does not conduct background checks, professional verification, or identity screening beyond limited student email verification.

You are solely responsible for your interactions with others.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is."

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE." We disclaim all warranties to the fullest extent permitted by law.

14. Limitation of Liability

Our liability is limited.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Amicus will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

Our total liability shall not exceed the greater of $100 USD or the amount you paid to Amicus in the prior 12 months.

15. Indemnification

You cover claims caused by your conduct.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Amicus from claims arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

16. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

Disputes are resolved individually, not as class actions.

Any dispute shall first be addressed informally. If unresolved, disputes will be resolved through binding individual arbitration, unless prohibited by law.

You waive the right to participate in class actions.

17. Governing Law and Venue

Minnesota law applies.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

18. Miscellaneous

Certain payment, authentication, and communication services are provided by third-party vendors, including Stripe, Microsoft, and SendGrid, whose terms and policies apply independently.

These Terms constitute the entire agreement. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect. We may assign these Terms; you may not.
